Better Together with Enhanced Cloud and Mobility to Create a Better World

Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has launched its Autodesk 2014 Solutions in Hong Kong today with Autodesk’s latest software portfolio which includes enhanced suites and Autodesk 360 cloud services that extend designers and engineers’ workflows to explore more design alternatives, collaborate more effectively and experience greater mobility.

“The new Autodesk brand signals the beginning of the next 30 years for the company. This change in our identity represents our intention to continue delivering the world’s leading cloud-based design and engineering software so designers at every skill level can unlock their creativity to build better products and solve important challenges in the world,” said Wendy Lee, Branch Manager, Hong Kong & Macau, Autodesk.

Lee added, “With Autodesk 2014 Solutions, the flexible and economical software enables designers and engineers to have a broader palette of tools to choose from — they can choose the best tool for the job at hand and better respond to the changing business requirements. This will also allow our customers to more efficiently deliver projects on time and on budget.”

Autodesk 2014 Design and Creation Suites – Gives Flexibility to Innovate More

For the first time, the 2014 Autodesk Design and Creation Suites include new reality capture software and services, Autodesk ReCap – first in the industry to bring together laser scanning and photogrammetry into one streamlined process, and the only solution on the market to provide the visualization quality and scalability to handle extremely large data sets. Autodesk ReCap simplifies the process of creating intelligent 3D data of physical objects and environments using laser scans and photos, allowing customers to bring the actual job site or physical objects into their design and engineering process. Rather than beginning with a blank screen, designers and engineers can add, modify, validate and document their design process in context.

Together with the enhanced Autodesk 360, it extends the suites workflow advantage by connecting the desktop to a secure and virtually infinite computing power source in the cloud, helping subscribers rapidly design, visualize, simulate, and share their ideas anywhere, anytime.

Autodesk Building Design Suite 2014, a comprehensive software portfolio that combines Building Information Modeling (BIM) and CAD tools to help building and construction professionals design, simulate, visualize, and build improved buildings. New products include Autodesk Raster Design – powerful raster editing and raster-to-vector conversion tools that help architects, engineers and contractors increase the visual information on a building plan; Autodesk InfraWorks 2014 (formerly Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler) – easily create, evaluate and communicate building projects in the context of the broader site to help architects and urban planners gain faster stakeholder buy-in and decision making; and Autodesk ReCap.

Highlights of key enhancements:

  • Autodesk Revit 2014 enhancements: Specifically designed for BIM, it combines the features for architectural design, MEP and structural engineering, as well as for construction. The 2014 release provides enhanced design, analysis and documentation capabilities to improve architectural and engineering workflows. Revit 2014 also includes the new Building Element Energy Analysis tool, which provides advanced workflows for energy analysis using detailed Revit models.
  • Interoperability enhancements: Enhanced interoperability between technologies allows more effective collaboration, including improvements for IFC, DWFTM, DWGTM/DXFTM and 3D solids. Interoperability between AutoCAD and Revit is also improved, which makes the transition to BIM easier for firms.
  • New quantification tools in Navisworks Manage and Navisworks Simulate: allow building customers to more easily bring quantities from an aggregated model into a project.

Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite 2014 provides a unified and flexible workflow, offering creative production teams the ability to better manage across a globally distributed creative workforce. Every tool in the Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suites offers new ways for artists to efficiently bring more life-like and realistic behaviours to their creations.

Highlights of key enhancements:

  • Autodesk 3ds Max 2014 offers new Populate feature saving artists time and allowing them to quickly and easily generate moving or idle crowds with life-like human reactions and activity.
  • Autodesk Softimage 2014 offers new Camera Sequencer toolset with the ability to cut between multiple cameras to edit clips, leaving the original animation data unchanged; directorial control over scenes; improved CrowdFX and ICE (Interactive Creative Environment) features enable artists to use the concept of passes and partitions in any combination with any aspect of ICE; and an improved High-Quality Viewport delivers a higher fidelity interactive experience.
  • Autodesk MotionBuilder 2014 now supports Linux operating system. The 2014 release also comes with new motion capture workflow options; artist-friendly methods for positioning, measuring and selecting objects; the ability to use custom viewport renderers; and an API (Application Programming Interface) for file referencing.
